 HAZELBROOK MIDDLE SCHOOL

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

FALL 2024 – Sept. 16th – Oct. 31st

The cost is $20 per activity, activities are held on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, they run from 3:15-4:15, and they start the week of Sept. 16th (except cross country which will have two additional practices the week before on the 10th and 12th). Signups and payment will be done in person starting on Friday morning, Sept 6th when the doors open to start school. Activities with limits will close once the limit is reached but students can be placed on a waiting list for a full/closed activity.

MONDAY/WEDNESDAY

DODGEBALL: This will be a fast-paced activity with lots of throwing and agility. Sign up with your friends and have a great time playing this classic game. The more participants that sign up, the better.

DRAMA (limit 20): Join the drama club for fun, games, and hands-on learning! In this activity we’ll learn stage terminology, play theater games, dive into acting exercises, and more. Get yourself ready for Moana auditions this November!

SOCCER (limit 40): Are you a fan of this internationally popular sport? Then come join others who are also crazy for soccer as you work to improve your skills. You will get to wear the HMS soccer jersey at school on game days. If they have teams, there will be matches against Twality and Fowler. SPEED, AGILITY, AND

STRENGTH: Do you want to get some extra workouts in during the day? This is your opportunity to have access to Hazelbrook’s Fitness Center where you will be able do some fun and full body circuit training.

VOLLEYBALL (limit 36): Learn how to play volleyball in an organized and fun practice of fundamentals. You will get to wear the HMS volleyball jersey at school on game days. If they have teams, there will be matches against Twality and Fowler.

TUESDAY/THURSDAY

BASKETBALL (limit 30): Like to shoot, score, rebound, pass, and play defense? If so, then this is where you need to be. Come and learn the fundamentals and have fun playing a variety of games with your friends. You will get to play against the other middle schools if they have teams.

CROSS COUNTRY: We compete in the Willamette River League against other middle schools from the metro area which includes a large and competitive district meet. You will race against other athletes of the same gender and grade at those meets. 6th and 7th graders will race 2000m while 8th graders will race 3000m. If you like to run or want to improve your running skills, then this is your activity. The cross-country team will work to develop runners of all abilities so they can become healthier and faster. We are looking for at least 10 boys and 10 girls from each grade level to be part of this school sport. Check out the league schedule on athletic.net for more information. Cross country shirts are optional to buy, you can compete in them, and they cost $15. To buy one, turn in $15 to the main office and tell them the size you would like (Youth Large – Adult XXL). The deadline to get your shirt order in is Thursday, 9/12.

Lastly, because ‘Cross Country’ is a week longer than other activities, has some entry fees, and has more competitions, an extra $10 donation would be greatly appreciated so that we can continue to offer this popular activity. Please use the QR code in this packet to donate an additional $10.

PING PONG (limit 25): We have enough tables for you to learn this game if you are a beginner and to hone your skills if you already know how to play. Come play singles and doubles in this activity.

Students must turn in all of the following in order to sign up:

  1. Activity sign-up form
  2. Activity waiver
  3. $20 sign-up fee; $30 sign-up fee for track/cross country
